Teacher under sex probe to appear before TSC

The New Campbellville Secondary School teacher who is at the centre of sexual molestation allegations involving students at that school is to appear before the Teaching Service Commission (TSC) shortly, officials at the Education Ministry have confirmed.

Guyana Times International was told that the teacher has fathered a child with one of the students, who was later transferred to another school. The man has also allegedly been targeting other school girls. According to preliminary reports, these allegations brought against the teacher have not been disputed.

Reports are that the teacher’s alleged acts have been perpetrated for years now, and are known by teachers and vendors who have been at the school for more than five years.

Guyana Times International was told that some of the teacher’s sexual acts have been recorded on his cell phone, and another teacher has seen some of these videos. A previous investigation was launched, but the matter fell through. Reports also indicate that a senior welfare officer who retired from the system but was rehired knew of the incident, and was very upset that the matter had fallen through. In light of new allegations, she visited the school on several occasions to confront the teacher, but at no time was he present during her visits; and from reports, the head teacher was unaware of his absence from the school’s compound.

Last January, Fort Wellington Secondary School teacher Ronald Forde was charged for carnally knowing a female student of that institution who was under 18 years old. Investigators were told that the teacher had lost his mobile phone, and when it was found, video recordings of him and an identifiable female student having sex were found on the instrument.

Several other students had also reportedly complained about the teacher’s sexual advances.
